Isiah Thomas to coach at FIU

Isiah Thomas was one of the best point guards in NBA history. Thomas was a 12-time NBA All-star, a two-time NBA champion and is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame .

And although he wasn't a bad coach in his three years with the Pacers, he couldn't do anything right (on and off the court) during his most recent coaching gig.

In his two seasons with the Knicks, Thomas compiled a 56-108 record. In addition to (badly) missing the playoffs both seasons, Thomas was charged with sexual harassment and allegedly overdosed on sleeping pills.

In the sexual harrassment case, the Knicks and Browne Sanders settled for $11.6 million even though Thomas always maintained his innocence. Thomas also denied he overdosed. Instead he claimed it was his teenage daughter who overdosed.

So a guy that was charged with sexual harrassment and threw his daughter under the proverbial bus will now be the same guy responsible for developing a group of teenage men.

Florida International University is giving Isiah Thomas a five-year contract to be its basketball coach.

FIU hasn't had a winning season since the 1999-2000 season. In other words, they expect to lose.

Without a hire like this, FIU wouldn't have made the national news. Thomas has given FIU basketball its fifteen minutes of fame. If they win too, it will be a bonus.
