Nowitzki gets second career triple-double in win

The Dallas Mavericks are in a battle with the Utah Jazz and the Denver Nuggets for the second seed in the Western Conference playoffs.

With last night's 16-point victory over the Nuggets, the Mavs won the season series (2-1), which would decide a tie-breaker, if necessary. The Jazz, who currently lead the Nuggets by one game, trail the Mavs by half a game in the standings.

In the victory, Dirk Nowitzki recorded his second career triple-double: 34 points, ten rebounds and ten assists.

"I don't know how much of a statement it made, it was just a win we needed,'' said [Mavs guard Jason] Terry, per Eddie Sefko of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Up next for Dallas are the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
